Found a really interesting conversation about drum and bass on the bird app and it got me thinking. Are we, as artists, songwriters, producers, making the music we want to or having to make adjustments for the apps we rely on to promote ourselves like Tiktok and Spotify?
Constantly in studios being expected to come up with 2 hooks and a drop in the first 30 seconds of a track to keep a listener interested long enough to get a stream that will pay you less than a penny two years later (cc'ing the Austrian girls at Eurovision here who tried to tell you!).
Just thought it was a really interesting conversation that could be applied to all genres of music. Or is it specific to electronic music because we have perhaps a higher churn out rate? Is this just an old millenial debate and Gen Z are our creative dictators now? 😂 What do you think?
