I have aesthetic goals and I feel ashamed of it!
I’ve seen so much recently on body positivity and learning to love yourself regardless of your shape and size that I genuinely started feeling guilty about wanting to work towards a stronger, leaner, more confident me.
I know we should love our bodies and all they have achieved, especially as a mum, which I absolutely do… but I still would love to be more confident in my own skin, be more toned and not carry so much weight that crept on during pregnancy and postpartum. That weight isn’t good for my heart and it’s not good for me trying to climb up onto the kids bunk beds to change their bedding!!
So if like me you’re seeing all the body positivity messages and feeling guilty for wanting to make changes to your outward appearance, know that you’re not alone and we can love everything our bodies have done but still work to achieve our new goals. 🖤

I recently saw @glouiseatkinson lifting weights on socials and the comments from people asking: should you be doing that in your condition, seemed endless. So let’s educate people for a minute.
Physical activity in pregnancy is encouraged under the latest research and you should aim for 150min a week. If you have an uncomplicated pregnancy and it feels comfortable keep going. If you are in pain then obviously stop and seek support. You might need to tweak your training to cater for your new centre of gravity and baby bump.
The @activepregnancyfoundation has lots of resources available to help you navigate this part of your training journey. If you’re not active but wanting to start have a look at online programmes that can ease you in gently or find your local pre and postnatal trainer to support you.

Whilst the pre-parent version of you is still in there, you will learn and grow, discover new things about yourself and find an inner strength to keep going when you’re exhausted and broken.
The challenge of parenthood gets easier and as you find your groove. This experience merges with that older version of yourself to come out the other side… the same but different.
You’re still you but, but a different you.

It should be standard practice that women see a specialist physio after having a baby. @The Mummy MOT provides such an incredible service it’s a shame this isn’t available as a standard part of your recovery.
