Located in Ithaca, NY this 1,100 acre state park has 3 pavilions for rent, camping and cabins available, 9 miles of hiking across 6 trails, 12 waterfalls and a unique experience of swimming in a stream-fed pool beneath a waterfall with a lifeguard on duty. In the heart of the finger lakes region - they don’t say “Ithaca is gorges” for no reason!

📍Our Dog Friendly visit to Rensselaerville Falls in E.N. Huyck Preserve 🌳 🐾
Located in Rensselaerville, New York this 2,000 acre preserve offers 12 miles of hiking trails, a pond, a beautiful lake with opportunities to see Bald Eagles and this huge twisting three tier waterfall. The hike to the lower, middle, and upper falls (Waldron Overlook) is only about 1.5 miles out and back.
⚠️ There are 5 different parking areas for the preserve, if you’re looking to get the closest the waterfall you’ll want to park along the Delaware Turnpike — the southernmost of the five. When you arrive it looks like a driveway for a private home but it is marked by a small sign to ensure that you’re in the right place.

Located in Sheffield/Ludlow, PA - the literal middle of no where, this hidden gem is a must see! You’ll know you’ve reached the trailhead by a tree with “HF” spray painted in orange on it on the left hand side of the road.

- do not rely on google maps gps to find the correct location or you’ll end up in several wrong locations — use the exact coordinates
- ⚠️ there is no service here and likely no one else around
- there is only enough parking available to a few cars
- ⚠️ there is a gate where the road/trail begins, if you choose to drive half way down to the falls be aware that it may be closed and locked by the time you get back

Located in the beautiful Shawangunk Mountain ridge, this park offers several waterfalls, three lakes, beautiful views, 35 miles of roads and 50 miles of trails to explore.

🌳 To reach Awosting Falls from the Upper Parking Area near Lake Minnewaska it’s about 1.2 miles out and back. This is the fastest route to the falls and there are bathrooms available.
🍃On the way down, you’ll pass some mild white water sections of Peterskill and an area where you can step off the main trail and walk down to view the top of the falls. *Supervise dogs carefully here when falls are really flowing!
🌳 To reach Stony Kill Falls you must park along Shaft 2A Road and it’s about 1.5 mile out and back.
🍃There is no entrance fee to this part of the park as it does not connect with any other trails in the park. *There are no bathrooms here.
Other highlight points of interest we missed: Sam’s Point, Verkeerderkills Falls, Lower Peterskill Falls, Mine Kill Falls, Rainbow Falls, Mossy Glen Footpath Trail, Ice Caves, and Gertrude’s Nose — we saw that from the car though!
While you’re in the area, head south another 1.5 hours and you’ll reach New York City! 🏙️
🚨 Pet Policy: “Dogs only, must be on a leash not more than 6 feet. Not allowed in buildings, camping, picnic or bathing areas or on walkways. Pets are NOT permitted on beaches or on the cross-country ski trails when they are groomed and open for cross-country skiing only.
