Have you ever wondered what lies beneath the soil? A soil profile is a vertical section of the soil that shows the different layers of soil and their characteristics. The O horizon is the topmost layer of soil that contains organic matter such as leaves, twigs, and dead animals. The A horizon is the layer below the O horizon that contains a mixture of organic and mineral matter. The B horizon is the layer below the A horizon that contains more mineral matter and less organic matter. The C horizon is the bottommost layer of soil that contains weathered rocks and minerals. Stay tuned for more interesting facts about soil. #SoilProfileSecrets

Crown Cleaning and Thinning: How to Prune Trees for Risk Reduction and Aesthetics. Crown cleaning and thinning are two common pruning techniques that arborists use to remove dead, diseased, or damaged branches and to reduce the density of the crown foliage. These techniques can improve the health, appearance, and safety of the trees. This article also covers other pruning methods such as raising, reduction, topping, restoration, and thinning out, and explains when and how to apply them. #crowncleaning #crownthinning #pruningtips #manassasvirginia

Saving Our Majestic Oaks: A Tree Care Adventure 🌳 Hey, nature lovers! We’re on location with a majestic two-trunk red oak. It’s a sight to behold, but we’ve spotted some signs of white rot. But don’t worry, we’ve got a plan to ensure this tree stands tall and healthy!
Here’s our action plan: 1️⃣ Crown and Weight Reduction: We’ll trim the crown and reduce weight to alleviate stress on the tree. 2️⃣ Branch Management: We’ll manage those overextended branches that are reaching for the roof. 3️⃣ Cable Support System: We’re installing a cable support system for extra security. 4️⃣ Regular Check-ups: Our expert arborist will conduct regular check-ups to monitor the tree’s health.
We’ll carry out all these actions during the tree’s dormant period. Timing is everything when it comes to tree care! 🍂
Stay tuned as we embark on this journey to maintain and protect our leafy friends. Remember, every tree deserves some TLC! 💚🌳

Is it okay to blow leaves from your neighbor's yard back to theirs? 🍂🍁
The answer is no. Law dictates that the leaves that fall are a natural process and thus are the responsibility of the landowner where the leaves fall. If you set foot on the neighboring property, you could be charged with trespassing (see this is where the animosity comes into play.) Just suck it up and pick up the leaves. If it’s really that big of an issue, talk to your neighbor like a grownup and see if you can work something out. Better yet, leave them be so they can do their job for the ecosystem. 🌳🌱

"Pruning is a necessary part of maintaining the health and appearance of oak trees. It can remove dead or diseased wood, improve appearance, promote new growth, and allow more sunlight and air to reach the inner parts. However, it's important to prune oak trees correctly to avoid damaging them.
When pruning oak trees, you should only remove branches that are dead or so low that they're in the way. Do not leave stubs when pruning. Instead, prune them back to the bark swell at the base of the branch and leave a clean cut. This will help the tree heal faster and prevent disease.
Live oak tree branches are very unlikely to break on their own. However, if you notice any branches that are crossing or rubbing against each other, they should be removed. When cutting branches, it's important to use sharp, clean pruning shears. This will help prevent the spread of disease and pests.
It's important to note that live oaks are slow to recover from heavy pruning. Therefore, pruning should be done judiciously. For young oaks, pruning should be limited to dead or broken branches.
It's also important to avoid using sealants when pruning oak trees. Research has shown that it's not necessary and can actually slow down the healing process
