KIDS CARE Service Learning Nonprofit is proud to report that we had an incredible experience at our MLK Day Service & Fun Event at Adventure Air in Kennesaw. We had a total of 73 volunteers of all ages serving together to make sandwiches for those facing hunger in Cobb County. What better way to honor the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. then to unite and serve together for the betterment of our community.
We are proud to say that we donated a total of 301 ham & cheese sandwiches to The Sandwich Project ATL & The Salvation Army Marietta Corps. Volunteers also donated 3 bags of fresh fruit. These volunteers were so efficient that they finished the goal of 300 sandwiches in about 40 minutes! I believe if we had the supplies they could have made a 1000 sandwiches easy! And THEY HAD FUN!!
There is something special about serving and doing good for someone else that makes a person feel light, fulfilled and happy. Sharing that feeling with others is a great Joy. It's amazing how light work is when many hands help do the lifting.
It was a special day and we are so proud and grateful for all those who served with us. Thank you to our volunteers who also helped us celebrate KIDS CARE 4th birthday of being a nonprofit! And from the feedback we got from our volunteers --we will be serving again in some fashion on MLK Day next year. It sure feels extra special and magical when serving in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 's Spirit.

Litter Heroes took off at Laurel Park on 9/24 in search of all litter - big & small. As expected we found the usual suspects lingering dangerously in wildlife habitats: cigarette butts, plastic bread ties, tin/aluminum cans, glass bottles, balloons, plastic bottles, bottle caps, plastic bags, straws, metal, toys, styrofoam, to go containers and more...including the thoroughly disliked plastic tree parts pretending to camouflage the cell phone tower.
Thanks to our bright bunch of volunteers who have their super power "Trash Eyes" focused on ALL the trash...including the MICROPLASTICS! We are so proud of everyone's efforts and knowledge. Thank you for tending to Mother Earth with us. Special Congrats & Gratitude to Cory for earning his "Earth Hero" Patch! Great job Cory!
