From the #NikeN7 Junior Golf Clinic 🏌🏻
One of my favourite experiences from this summer! There was several stations set up for youth the develop different skills in golf. I got to work at the Dream Station with the dream team Trish and Shalene! We asked the youth what their dreams are and who is on their dream team. Facilitating these discussions filled my heart right up. I see myself within the youth so much. I always try to give them the advice, guidance, support and plant the seeds that I needed when I was younger. I didn’t have big dreams for myself as a youth, so this was such a rewarding experience getting to talk about and listen to the dreams of our young people.
I remember this one little kid who wasn’t super engaged and hesitant to participate. I remember asking about what makes them happy and the things they like doing and what they want to do when they grow up but the kid never wrote anything down on the notepads. Just as we were about to wrap up the session, they gasped and looked at me in shock and blurted out “I know what I wanna do!! I wanna be a soccer player!!”
Just like this little kid, I hope you all have dreams for yourself. Never stop dreaming. Your dreams are going to change the world.

Powwow vlog for my first time at Shakopee powwow! Travelled down with my friends it was a long drive but it’s worth it! Out here in Minnesota. Tbh felt a little intimidated going to a big powwow so far from home but I’m loving the vibes. There’s 1100 dancers!! Women’s fancy got Meskwawki Nation for contest and I got bucked lmao. Cultural Village at @NAIG 2023 located at the Halifax Commons downtown! This is definitely something to check out if you are attending the games or local to the area. There’s vendors, food trucks, cultural displays, entertainment, dance performances, and Acosia Red Elk is leading powwow yoga every morning at 10am! #NAIG2023

Over 5000 Indigenous athletes from across North America all gathered under one roof. There’s more athletes competing at NAIG than there are for the Olympics! This was such a special experience that I will never forget. So excited for the rest of the week to watch our Team AB athletes compete! We have representation in all 16 sports.

From the @Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame Indigenous Peoples Day panel in 2022. Some words from my heart about the important role sport has played in my life.
When I was young, I never would’ve imagined myself getting into public speaking. I believe that sport has the power to teach us so many valuable life skills just like public speaking - I went from speaking to my team in the dressing room to being asked to speak on panels and keynotes. It’s always an honour whenever I’m asked to come speak somewhere. I still get nervous sometimes but some things that help me are to think about all the ones who never had the opportunity to take up space & use their voice and to call on Creator & my ancestors to deliver a message that is needed.
