Is Moab experiencing a superbloom?✨🏜️🌼
Superblooms in the desert occur when dormant seeds germinate and bloom at the same time, typically after a wet winter.💦🌸
While I’m not qualified to assess whether this is an *actual* superbloom, the globemallow and sego lilies around Moab this year are unlike anything I’ve ever seen!😍
Please remember not to pick, walk on, or crush the wildflowers. Save them for the pollinators and allow them to go to seed so they come back in future years!🌱
Superblooms are also a great reminder of why it’s so important to travel on durable surfaces (this includes designated trails, slickrock, and washes in the desert).🥾
What may look like a barren piece of dirt may actually be harboring thousands of seeds just waiting for moisture (around Moab it probably also has biologic crust forming even if it hasn’t developed into super crusty crypto yet).🙏🏼

✨Can’t Miss Views in Glacier National Park✨🏔️
When I visited Glacier National Park last summer I was still rehabbing my ankle, so I wasn’t able to do all of the *epic* mountain hikes I had on my bucket list. Fortunately, you don’t need to hike far to find spectacular views in Glacier!😍
✍🏼I have an earlier post that dives into everything you need to know about the reservation system in Glacier this year. You’ll need a Going to the Sun Road reservation (or lodging/campground reservations inside that area of the park) for many of the areas I’ve included here. There are a couple of recs in the North Fork & Many Glacier areas, which I recommend visiting outside of the reservation hours!
‼️Please remember to practice Leave No Trace if you visit, which includes being prepared, packing out waste, and not picking or trampling wildflowers. Also, bear spray is a must in grizzly country!🐻

The Hotel Maverick was the BEST basecamp for a little Grand Junction staycation last weekend. William and I took full advantage of feeling like we were in vacation mode with a double adventure day!✨

🛶Adventure two: paddle boarding on the Colorado River💦 The river is rising quickly, so make sure you have a PFD!
