I think this was the exact moment (January 2019) we knew (subconsciously...maybe even consciously) that Eliza's chance for survival was far less than the quoted 15%...But we kept going...Eliza kept going...until the cancer had metastasized to thousands...thousands...of tiny cancerous tumors throughout her one remaining lung, diaphragm, and pericardium surrounding her heart...In April of 2021, we ended treatment. For the next 2 months, Eliza just got to "live" - no pokes or surgeries or chemo or Phase 1 clinical trials. In June 2021, Eliza embarked on a different journey, outside of her physical body. My hope is she's helping other kids fight to ring that bell. And for that ringing of the bell to be the ultimate truth, a true sign of remission.
