Calaca is slang for "skull" or skeleton in México. This is where Kalaka got its name.
The Catrina is the Lady of the Dead and its a traditional character by José Gpe. Posadas. His art has served as inspiration for the face paintings that are now trendy in Halloween.
Doña Kalaka is a cross over from the Catrina to a death-metal, minimalistic, Nordic interpretation of a skull.
It was born in Finland to a Mexican mother.
