From Poe to Poe 🐦⬛
The last place Edgar Allan Poe was was ever seen alive was at The Horse You Came In On Saloon in Baltimore’s Fells Point area. When I booked my show at this bar, I had no idea I was walking in Poe’s footsteps and I LOVE IT. The Horse, as it’s more comminly known, started opperating in 1775 making it the oldest working saloon in North America. Poe, the grandfather of American Gothic storytelling and an inspiration to so many modern titans of the genre, frequented this spot until he his dying day.

“Hold On Virginia” story time y’all. We were a day away from starting the recording sessions at The Orange Lounge and the song was still missing something, I wanted a final verse to cap off the song, lead us into the final chorus, and really drive the sorry home…but I didn’t have it yet. So, instead of trying to force something like trying to ram the wrong puzzle piece into the spot where it’s clearly not supposed to go, I waited. I waited for the song to speak to me as they usually do, waited for the world in the story to tell me where it wanted to go, and eventually it did.
