When I was 7 years old, I watched as my mother passed away after a 5 year battle with cancer. My father was by her side until she took her last breath and his love for her transcended death. When my father himself was diagnosed with cancer only 4 years after my mother died, I watched his love for her in ever act of love and kindness he showed those around him and how hard he fought for myself and my siblings. Up until my father’s last breaths, he lived to be a man my mother would be proud of.. and I could tell him how he was/is that and way way more. I will never witness such pure love in my life again, and one day when I find “the one” man who is meant for me — I can only promise that I will show that same unconditional and pure love to him. Because that was what I was shown and I want to honor their love by loving in just the same way.
