We all face challenges. The way you answer that adversity can make a big difference in rising above. And knowing you aren't alone as you try and try and try can mean so much.
Driven Moms Answering Adversity: Stories of Success Through Setbacks
Today's episode features The resilient and remarkable but rebellious Bad Cadet, Katherine Spallino. Look into what she does here: http://bit.ly/the-bad-cadet.
Her ability to keep moving forward when advocating for herself meant losing all she had known is a story you simply cannot ignore!
Katherine Spallino is a stay-at-home mom happily raising three rambunctious boys (two of whom are twins) with her husband. She's currently working on her second novel, The Bad Scientologist (which you hear about more in her interview below).
This first book, The Bad Cadet, is about her younger years and how she ended up leaving the Church of Scientology's Sea Organization.
She was born into the religion, separated from her parents, and sent to train for her future in the clergy - the Sea Organization. As she entered her teenage years, the fundamental question intensified - should she commit herself to the church, or reject everything she's ever known for a chance at a different life?
As a former cadet, she thought it was time to share her story of what it was like to be raised to be a future executive in the Sea Org. And to let others who leave cults know that you can create and build a happy life outside of that organization too.
Please click to watch her video interview below:
https://youtu.be/NeCNCrLTg4U
Once you finish, hit reply and let me know your biggest takeaway from Katherine's story.
We're here for YOU!

In my elementary music class, we used to celebrate birthdays by singing “It’s a Calypso birthday party…” while whoever had a birthday drew a chalk birthday cake on the board.
Then we would help them “blow” out the candles on the cake by using the eraser.
Honestly, not really sure anyone else ever did that, but I remember it so fondly, and it was a really fun time in music class. I was blessed with some pretty amazing teachers throughout my schooling who really taught me to think outside of the box and be inclusive.
Maybe that was just my perception and experience, but I’m grateful nonetheless.
To honor Treyton’s birthday, September 13th, and mine on the 17th, as well as tap into the tradition I held for 5 years in elementary school… help me blow out the candles to make a WISH!
1… 2… 3…
Good job! It worked well enough that you get a gift, too!
For the rest of September, you’ll get 5% off the Mompreneur Success Mentorship.
If you’re one of the first two people to take advantage of the Party Perk, I’ll bump it up to 7% off.
Let’s get you organized, planning ahead, and ready to tackle your tasks while remaining engaged with your family and friends. Hit reply with “WISH” to show your interest in one of the places available.

What would you say is one of your favorite birthday presents that you’ve ever received?
I have a few:
🎁 One was my mom renting a limo to pick me up from school on my 16th birthday with a blue velvety interior (blue is my favorite color) to drive me and my best friend around for a bit. At the time, I dreamed of being a singer/songwriter, so it made me feel important and famous for that time.
🎁 Another was literally this year. My sister surprised me back in MARCH with an email announcing I had tickets to an Ed Sheeran concert in August. I instantly freaked and told the kids and everyone who would listen. Best. Concert. Ever. And for sure a gift I will never be able to beat (unless I manage a VIP experience… ha ha ha).
The point is that you create an unforgettable experience for the person’s birthday. And something extremely thoughtful. Some of my other favorites are pictures people have colored for me, etc.
I’m excited to extend the gift-giving to all of you!
The rest of September, you get the present of $$$$ saved. About $200 for a select couple of moms in business, and $150 staying in your pocket for everyone else.
Juggling motherhood while running a business can be done without sacrificing everything you started your business for in the first place. Grab a spot in the 90-day Mompreneur Success Mentorship to take advantage of the 5% (or 7%) off by hitting reply with “Present.”

Birthdays commemorate the many years you’ve graced everyone with your presence.
The years you’ve grown, who you’ve become, and the years you have yet to learn through.
As moms, we do this while also helping others learn and grow because we gave others their birthdays.
We do so much by ourselves, our birthday (or our kids’) should be a reason to come together a bit.
And this year, I’m offering 5% off the Mompreneur Success Mentorship if you are registered by September 30. You don’t have to go through this journey of running a business and being a mom alone.
The first two through the doors will get 7% off… because I say so. Let’s get you organized, planning like a pro, and ready for what those kids and clients throw at you.
Put “Birthday” in the comments to show me you’re serious, and we’ll get the party started. 🙂

Reflecting isn't always easy.
We don't always like what's looking back at us, right?
But it's a necessary part of growth.

As we approach not only the end of the year but also Q4 for business and holidays hitting full force, it's important not to lose any momentum you've gained thus far.
In the Gift Yourself Grace series, we meet quarterly for 5 days to reflect on five impactful areas:
🪞 Goals
🪞 Relationships
🪞 Actions
🪞 Connections
🪞 Expectations
While we reflect on these areas, we also want to release any pressure you've been feeling from them over the previous quarter (or quarters).
Fresh direction, fresh mindset, and fresh to face the next level in your business and life.
Are you ready?? Gift Yourself that Grace here (this session begins Monday!): https://momelevated.com/gift-yourself-grace/

Driven Moms Answering Adversity: Stories of Success Through Setbacks
Today's episode features the keen, warm Kahuna Wisdom Keeper Janese Recolan. Look into what she does here: https://linktr.ee/janese_ululani.
Her ability to reconnect with and rediscover the strength and power within is inspiriting!
Janese Recolan helps successful women/mothers activate their ancestral powers and create worry-free lives!
As you'll hear in her story, she never knew the gifts she had even though she felt them throughout her life. By denying these ancestral powers, consciously or not, something always felt a little "off" or wrong.
Once she went on her own soul journey to discover and trace her gifts, she felt that all shift.
Now, she helps break generational cycles so you can stand authentically in your power.
Please click to watch her video interview below:

The main reason I love what I do is that I get to help other mom entrepreneurs.
Seriously.
We’re very hard on ourselves, often unnecessarily so.
And I love acting as that sounding board to:
🫶 reframe thoughts
🫶 redirect situations
🫶 reassess goals or priorities
I’m doing a 5-day series at the end of each quarter to do just that. Change the narrative and set the course you want to set your business (and life) on with a plan of which actions to take!
Join me for Gift Yourself Grace as reflection points throughout the year. Time passes so quickly; it'll be a great marker to keep you moving forward.

Holding down the fort can be quite a feat at times.
When you bear the weight of caring for the household, raising the children, and other daily duties while your significant other travels or works long, long hours, it can feel incredibly lonely and isolating.
While you feel like you're doing it all by yourself, you also appreciate the hard work and sacrifices your significant other is going through.
It can be quite a dance on the line for acknowledging your own feelings and being mindful of your partner's as well.
Following a few steps can help you "cee" your way through:
Communication - Maintaining an open and honest conversation will go a long way with alleviating what you carry and helping your significant other still feel involved.
Effort - Part of the difficulty is continuing the connection and remembering why you both are sacrificing what you are for your family -- put forth the effort to keep that reason front and center.
Energy - With such a heavy load, you have a limited amount of energy to exert each day; choose your tasks wisely and know when you have no more to give so you do not run on empty (or at least not as often run on empty).
Which step do you feel you excel in, and which do you need to improve??

Squirrel-brain, or the next shiny thing, happens a lot as an entrepreneur.
We get "inspired" or have this light-bulb moment and forget to complete the first great idea we had or spread ourselves over many different ideas at one time.
It's both a blessing and a curse, really.
Learning how to rein in some of that creative flow will help to actually get momentum in your business. You'll focus on establishing one idea really effectively before moving on to the next.
Now, that’s not saying let go of those wonderful ideas. As we mentioned with brain-dumping, it's vital that you write your ideas down in a place you'll be able to come back to them later once you're ready to expand and tap into the creative genius moments that make you love doing what you do.
Don't get carried away and lose sight of what trajectory you're working for. That's all!
Do you have an easy or hard time reining in your ideas?

When you need to have a difficult talk with someone - a family member, significant other, or child (especially a child), it can be a very sensitive situation.
No one likes confrontation, but sometimes it needs to happen.
An acronym to help you navigate those moments is to SHOW them you care by doing the following:
Safe - Provide a safe space for the other party to know they can share freely.
Honest - Honesty is the best policy for communication, even if it may not be what either of you wants to hear.
Open - Being open to whatever the other person has to say is important; it's not always about what "makes sense."
Wait - Give information space to breathe. Let it marinate. Then you can process the information a bit better before responding (and avoid or prevent defensive/aggressive interactions).
Which step do you think you do the best at providing during a tough conversation??
