I’ve lived in Japan since 2014 but I have never once eaten Osechi (Japanese traditional New Year food). We decided to try Osechi this year, 2023! Here are some fun fact about ordering Osechi:
1. Most Osechi are pre-ordered in October and the cut off timing is early November so you gotta be quick!
2. Most supermarkets has Osechi reservation
3. Your Osechi will be delivered on the last day of the year and it comes frozen.
4. Depending on the dishes including in the Osechi, it can cost up to 40,000-55,000yen
5. You can also purchase a on-the-spot Osechi at your local supermarket on the day for around 2000yen but they might not be as aesthetically pleasing (still yummy tho)
