If you’ve watched me play live over the past 3 years, you will have without a doubt heard Skyline. It’s usually the penultimate song in my set, and is definitely one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written. There was no doubt that it was the perfect title track for the EP.
I can’t tell you much about writing this song, as it was one of those writing experiences where it all came out, like I was just a vessel for the music to move through. I do remember writing the first line “I lost my heart on the central line, when she kissed me slow and said goodbye” while actually on the central line. Otherwise, the rest of the song just arrived and I was lucky enough to be sat at the piano when it did.

Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way was born out of a session with the wonderful Paul Hammer during his London trip
last year. We were in his airbnb in East London, sat at the kitchen table: He was armed with his laptop, some little
monitors, a midi keyboard & a few guitars, and I had my notebook & pen. We started the session with Paul playing
an idea he’d came up with that morning, which is actually the piano intro you hear on the record today. I loved it & it
immediately made me feel something, which is my only way of judging anything in sessions. If it ‘feels’ right, it usually is.
The first line of the song ‘Now I’m crying in the Uber home’ coincidentally was the first line I wrote, and pretty much
fell out of me which made a nice change. After the first line, we kept bouncing around ideas and the song came
together in half a day. We loved that we came to ‘Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way’ as the hook, because it’s almost this tongue & cheek realisation that despite the bad stuff, and the tears and the moaning... I wouldn’t a change a thing about any of it!
