“📍Granada, Spain - EXCITEEEE 😬😬😬 This semester I will be flying to Granada, Spain, to spend a whole semester abroad ☺️ I can’t describe the mix of emotion I am experiencing at the moment - little bit of nervousness, excitement, anxiety, and curiosity! But I am sure there will be so much growth from this experience and I can’t wait to see the change in me. Fall break last year in Granada made me fall in love with the city once but I already see myself falling in love with this city again. See you soon Granada ❤️”

2022 Study Abroad Film Festival winner, Zeke Winitsky (Berlin, Fall 21 | Penn State University) studied in Berlin, a city his Holocaust survivor grandfather refused to visit after World War II.
Winitsky’s desire to explore the city while also honoring the legacy of the Holocaust resulted in his winning film “Coming to Berlin” that reflects on the Holocaust and the Shoah’s legacy and the extent to which survivors and their descendants remain gripped by the horrific event. The film is also an homage to his grandfather.
“There’s pictures of my grandfather and references to my grandfather in that film … he inspired me so much in so many different ways especially to make this film. One piece of advice that he always gave me, and I think I can relay to everyone here, is that love is easier than hate, and I think that was a lot of the conclusions I came to when making this movie.” – Zeke Winitsky.
We recognize Holocaust Remembrance Day and honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazism. We believe study abroad is a catalyst for peace and it’s study abroad experiences like Zeke’s that help provide additional perspectives, to ensure history does not re-write itself, and how storytelling and new experiences are some of the most important tools for change.
Thank you to Zeke for sharing his incredible story and film with the world.
