Heartbreaking 💔
It breaks our hearts that our gentle giant Sigmund still has not been adopted or fostered 😔 We will care for him for as long as it takes to find him a home, but life in a shelter is no place for an 8-year-old dog, especially a big fellow like Sigmund, who is 115lbs 🥺 We bring Sigmund up to our offices whenever possible, but what this older gentleman really needs is to get out of the shelter, even just for a sleepover 🙏 Any amount of time spent out of the shelter is a gift for a shelter dog. Sigmund loves getting attention from people and did amazing with our summer campers ❤️ He is a darling fellow, but sadly, he is completely overlooked by adopters because of his age and his size, and because Sigmund does best as an only pet 😔 Do you have room in your life for this beautiful big boy? 🙏

Rescue work can be overwhelming. We are devastated to report that Gretel’s adopter has been diagnosed with the late stages of illness and was told he should make other arrangements for Gretel 💔
Our hearts go out to him for the difficult battle he is facing 🙏
Gretel is now with us here at the shelter. She is safe, but she is utterly heartbroken 💔 We want to get her into a new home asap, before she goes downhill in the shelter environment 🥺 Gretel was one of our biggest underdogs, and spent months in our shelter before finally being adopted. She made so much progress at her new home, getting over some of her fear of the outdoors 🙏 Gretel needs to be an only pet, as she still has insecurities to work through. She is an affectionate 4-year-old girl that absolutely loves human attention ❤️ We are looking for an immediate foster home for her, or better yet, a new forever family 🙏 Can you please open your heart and home to Gretel?

Scar may have a tough name, but he’s really just a love bug! ❤️ 2-year-old Scar came in as a stray, so we don’t know his story, but he arrived with multiple wounds to his face and body 💔 He’s clearly been through a lot in his short life 😔 Despite all that, this beautiful brindle Pitbull mix is friendly and cuddly, and just wants to be close to you! Scar is playful and enjoys attention and getting treats. All of the staff and volunteers LOVE Scar! He is a great dog that listens very well and walks well on a leash. 10-month-old Rex is a very good boy, he promises! 🥹 He wants to show you everything he already knows (like sitting for treats) but also wants to show you how happy he is to meet you! ❤️ Rex is a wonderful Black Lab mix that was given to his previous owner as a gift, but sadly they gave him up due to allergies 😔 Now, Rex is looking for a family that he can share all of his happy energy with ❤️ This sweet fellow is dog friendly, cat friendly and people friendly! He loves getting attention and following you around. He is still a young guy, so will need to get his playful energy out in healthy ways, but Rex will surely grow into the most loyal and loving family dog ❤️

This cutie is a pint-sized German shepherd mix who only weighs 39 pounds, but she does have some growing to do. Lucy is curious, active and appears to get along with other dogs. She is just one of many pets waiting to be adopted this week at the shelter. ❤️

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is a virus that leaves a cat’s immune system more susceptible to other illnesses. FIV itself does not cause the cat to become sick or show signs of illness, but it leaves them more vulnerable to secondary infections from bacteria or viruses in their environment

FIV is spread most often through aggressive fighting/biting, which means Tinker was most likely scratched or bitten by another cat 🥺 It is very unlikely to spread in a home environment to other cats if all cats are spaved/neutered and there is no fighting amongst them
➡️ Does FIV mean the cat will have a shorter life?
Not always, many cats that have FIV live a normal lifespan and show no symptoms of their illness

Our sweet senior Sigmund is still in our shelter waiting for a home 💔 This is no way for a dog to spend their golden years! 🥺 If you cannot adopt, please consider fostering this 8-year-old gentleman. Any amount of time spent out of the shelter is a gift for a shelter dog 🙏 Especially a big fellow like Sigmund, who is 115lbs. Sigmund loves getting attention from people and did amazing with our summer campers ❤️ When he gets excited he does his best to show you and does little hops. He is a darling fellow, but sadly, he is completely overlooked by adopters because of his age and his size, and because Sigmund does best as an only pet 😔 Do you have room in your life for this beautiful big boy? Even just for a sleepover? 🙏
