A few years ago, I composed and produced my very first instrumental track to help my little sister out in the 11th hour with a project of hers that needed some music. I'd already dabbled in sync placement with our Hooked Like Helen music, but this was my first time custom composing instrumentals for a specific scene. 1 scene turned into 9, and that project ended up becoming the globally viral, 3 time Emmy-winning CHEER. It became an opportunity for me to make lots more instrumental music. It became a door to discovering a whole other facet of my creativity, and it put my Chromesthesia to good use...🩷🎶🙏
Flash forward to last night, and we witnessed that same track - my very first instrumental - score a scene in Gordon Ramsay's new show as he fires up some entrepreneurially spirited young chefs. The timing of this particular sync placement is serendipitous af; we recently started watching some old Kitchen Nightmares episodes with our son, Augie, who immediately became obsessed with it, so he was beyond tickled to hear his mama's work beneath the booming voice of Chef Ramsay. 😝👨🍳 We've put that kid through a lot with our gnarly touring/hustling/grinding, so it was a great moment to see him so pumped on the places that our music goes. 🚀🩷🎶
