Here’s how to make vintage art for your home on a budget:
1. Find some secondhand frames from a thrift shop, these ones cost me just a few £.
2. Remove any nails and get rid of the glass panel.
3. Measure the inside of your frames so you know what size prints you’ll need. On Etsy you can find lots of vintage paintings which you can download & print at home.
4. I actually ordered my prints online on textured paper which looks authentic and they arrived cut to the exact size I needed them.
5. Insert your prints and secure with masking tape and then you’re ready to hang your frames.
6. First measure your wall space and use a pencil to mark where you want hang the frames.
If you rent like me, I recommend using Command strips so you don’t damage your walls, you simply stick these to the wall and they are super easy to remove later down the line.
And that’s it! This cost me less than £10 to put together and I love how they look in our bathroom.

2. Fill a boring blank space and create a gallery wall with removable hooks. Command hooks are a lifesaver as they don’t create any damage and help keep your rental deposit intact.
3. Lean & hang mirrors to reflect natural light. If you live in a small flat like me this is a game changer for bouncing light into the darker corners in a room.
Best of all, you can always take rugs, mirrors and art work to your next rental or your first bought home 🏡

We used wall panelling kits which saved us so much time not having to make so many cuts.

Upcycling an old piece of furniture is really such simple and affordable way to make something look ✨expensive✨ on a budget.
This project cost me less than £50 and here’s how I did it:
Step 1 – Find cheap furniture on Facebook Marketplace, I found this pine desk for £20!
Step 2 - Remove old handles and fill any holes/gaps with wood filler.
Step 3 – Sand to get rid of any varnish/spills/stains/lumps/bumps and then wipe with a damp cloth, removing any dust.
Step 4 - Apply one coat of primer - I like to use a water based primer like Dulux’s Trade White Primer. This dries in 2-4 hours.
Step 5 - Apply two coats coats of paint for full coverage - I painted this desk in the shade Bivouac – Valspar Interior Metal & Wood Eggshell Paint, Base C.
Step 6 – Attach new draw pulls – these vintage-style handles cost less than £5.

DIY Wall Panelling Tutorial ⬇️
Step 1 – Mark your measurements. Use a spirit ruler & pencil to mark on your walls where you want your panelling to sit. You can use tape to better visualise this. I recommend having at least 10cm around each box.
Step 2 – Cut the dado rail to the same width as your walls - you can get this done for free at B&Q (first 5 cuts are free) or do it yourself using a hand saw.
Step 3 – Start glueing. Begin with the dado rail first, apply instant grab adhesive in a zig zag pattern on the back and then simply stick it to the wall. Using a spirit level to make sure it straight. Using the dado rail as a guide, continue with sticking the rest of the mound to your walls.
Step 4 – Apply caulk around the panels for a seamless and smooth finish and to fill in any gaps.
Step 5 – Before painting, make sure to prime all the moulding. I recommend Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 White Multi-surface Primer as it’s quick drying.
Step 6 – Lastly, get painting! Use Frogtape for clean lines around skirting boards & windows. I used two coats of this lovely colour from Farrow & Ball in the shade French Gray.
