As another weekend of festive fun awaits, itβs time for some of our animals to make their way down to their weekend residence by the Farm Kitchen!
Weβve also got some seasonal treats lined up for our farm friends each day. All farm visitors can pop along to our Festive Feed encounter at 11am on Saturday and Sunday to learn all about our friendly goats, sheep and turkeysβ¦ Weβll be giving them sprouts, which happens to be one of their favourite seasonal treats.

It's tradition to leave carrots out for Rudolph and his team on Christmas Eve, but did you know that reindeer can't actually eat carrots?!
Carrots don't grow in sub-Arctic habitats anyway (so we're not sure where the tradition came from!) but even if they did, reindeer lack the top teeth needed to chew them down into a digestible size. Their jaws are designed for grazing soft vegetation such as moss, fungi, tree leaves, herbs, ferns and fresh grass shoots instead. That's why our reindeer always enjoy the opportunity to grab some fresh leaves from the hedgerow on their walk around the farm!
FUN FACT! We carefully monitor what our reindeer eat, and what comes out the other end! Through regular collection and analysis of our reindeer poo, we can identify signs of pregnancy or illness. Bit of a bum job for our keepers though!
