What is water communion?
Water communion is a unitarian universalist tradition typically celebrated at the end of summer to welcome the community back together after a season of travel and rest.
Participants are invited to bring a small amount of water to add to a shared vessel, representing the community returning for a new church year. This ritual is also sometimes called ingathering.
Sometimes people will bring water from somewhere they've visited over the summer, but it isn't a requirement. The purpose of this ritual is to be together in community.
