We are excited to announce that we have teamed up with students from Girls, Inc. and Evangeline Knell from Identity Digital to create outdoor soundwalks at Heckscher Park and nearby Dove/Torr Cottage this summer! 🤗 To be unveiled this fall, these soundwalks will be the culmination of a community project inspired by artist Helen Torr and how the natural world impacted her life and art. Torr lived at the cottage in Centerport with her husband and artist Arthur Dove from 1938 - 1946. This July, students participated in a variety of art, science, and technology activities including contributing to a life-size kinetic sculpture by Susan Buroker, which will be on view at Dove/Torr Cottage. This project was made possible by the Dorothy C. Radgowski Learning Through Women’s Achievement in the Arts Grant, a joint effort of Where Women Made History (WWMH), and Historic Artists’ Homes & Studios (HAHS), both programs of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
