In honor of Hip Hop’s Birthday, i decided to paint my favorite rapper. Slick Rick the Ruler. The way he crafted words together to tell stories was mind blowing. I grew up differently. And I don’t take it for granted that I get to share my experiences with the world. As a child, I knew the man I wanted to be. I was familiar with him more than anyone. I chased people that resembled him, at churches, at mosques, in schools, in sports, whoever had traits like the man I wanted to be, I sought after them for wisdom and guidance.
