It’s engagement season! Are you ready? I hope you all get a ring this season, so here are ways to prep in order to be ready to jump right in.
Make sure you are creating a new email where everything wedding will go and that way things aren’t getting lost in your personal inbox.
Head to Pinterest and update your board so it’s all current ideas. All your vendors will ask for this.
Pick out dates, times of year, and think about if you want a Friday Saturday, Sunday, or even consider a weekday for more cost-effective option.
Create a guest list. Think about all the people that you want to invite and have a preliminary list in order to know what kind of guest count you’re looking at when looking for venues.
Last, but definitely not least, is a budget. Talk to parents, your fiancé, anyone that’s going to be helping with the cost of the wedding. Put together the max that you want to spend on your wedding. If you aren’t sure the current wedding pricing, the first thing, I recommend is hiring a planner who can walk you through the ins and outs of the current wedding market for each vendor.

One of the biggest misconceptions in the industry is that a venue coordinator will do the same thing for you as a planner. It is absolutely not the case and leaves so many brides confused and frustrated in the planning process and on their wedding day.
Wedding Planners are there to execute your entire wedding day from start to finish. From picking vendors, vendor communication, reviewing contracts, keeping you on schedule, helping with your budget, planning your detailed timeline, wedding design, wedding rehearsal, working with your family and bridal party, setting up all your decorations, and everything else day of.
Venue Coordinators are solely there to handle things for the venue. While there are some great ones out there, their focus is to make sure that everything runs smoothly from the venue's perspectives. They make sure the tables and chairs are setup, the catering is on time, that the guests are parking in the right areas and any elderly guests are getting to the ceremony alright.
They stock bathrooms, and monitor the venue once the reception gets going. Many of them also leave after dinner is served.
Expecting a venue coordinator to do the same thing that a Planner is going to leave you incredibly disappointed.
Both are important jobs, but very different.
