It’s a very exciting week for our feathered friends as Bird Flu restrictions have finally lifted! 🐔💚
After five long months in “flockdown”, our rescued chickens, geese, and turkeys are finally allowed out to explore their grassy paddocks and patrol the yard.
It brings us so much happiness to see our flock enjoying the fresh air and the grass beneath their feet, just as it should be 💚💚💚

Ever wondered why our rescued cattle have ear tags? 🐮
All cattle born in Great Britain or imported into the country must be tagged in at least one ear, sometimes two.
Each tag contains a unique identification number that is registered with the government's animal identification database.
This allows authorities to trace the animal's history and movement from birth to death, and may be used for disease control purposes, food safety (if the animal is farmed) and overall welfare.
Even though our animals have escaped the farm industry and will live out the rest of their lives at our sanctuary, it is still a legal requirement for cattle to have these tags under the Animal Welfare Act and so we have to keep them on by law.
