Day 9 on Easter Island/Rapa Nui - Even though it was our final half day, we made the most of it. We woke up early in the morning to finally do the iconic sunrise at Tongariki. Marc from Green Island Tours was there to let us in and we were free to watch and photograph the sunrise from anywhere on the grounds. We checked out a few more places with our rental car, ate breakfast, packed up, and got our shuttle ride from Takarua Lodge. Day 8 on Easter Island/Rapa Nui - We wanted to go off-the-beaten-path and while there were a couple of hikes to choose from, we ended up choose the North Coast which ultimately is the lesser visited of the bunch and has many more moai, ahu, caves, and petroglyphs to see. We hiked with Marc of Green Island Tours (with his dog!) and had a blast on this one-day and one-way hike. Day 7 on Easter Island/Rapa Nui - The day started off with a bit of rain so we decided to sleep in. We used this as another day to explore island on our own and visit a few spots that don’t need a guide. We also accidentally made it into Akahanga because they left the back gate open. Whoops! We booked one dive with them to see the underwater moai.
