"We finally hit up this East End gem for dine-in, and that same creative, homey and attention to detail ethos was obvious. Beautiful space, lovely team, and more awesome handwritten menus. But the food was the star this time around, as it should be. Drink fav + 3 fav dishes:
🍺 We had a cocktail, glass of wine and a beer (great lists for both wine & beer), and the beer was the clear standout for me. @avlingto saison, with one of the most incredible, lingering aftertastes of my beverage drinking life. Warming, candylike herbaceousness from pineapple sage mixed with honey, reminiscent of saumf (coated fennel seeds eaten post-meal in India). Awesome stuff.
🥩 Kimchi’d Beef Tartare. One of the most well seasoned dishes of life. Tamari and @cows_creamery cheddar bringing umami and salt to a paste-like beef, scooped onto nori alongside the crunchy, bright kohlrabi kimchi.
🍞 Tell My Diner I Miss Her. A lot of their dishes succeed on nuance and subtlety, but this was boldfaced and yet balanced at the same time. Peach peperonata, ginger & sage sausage, all brought to earth by @bbirdco sourdough and radicchio
🍨 It’s Never Too Late To Have A Happy Childhood. If the world’s best ice cream sundae was replicated in room temperature form. Torched marshmallow steps in for ice cream, halva & pistachio cookie for roasted peanuts and a zippy concord grape & pomegranate sauce for high fructose fakeberry syrup."
