DF Tacos is now serving halal chicken across all branches, making it a convenient pick for a quick taco fix around town. They’ve got branches in Tottenham Court Road, Shoreditch, Brixton (delivery only), and at the Market Halle (Victoria, Oxford Street, Canary Wharf)
We particularly enjoyed the Diablo Grilled Chicken Tacos & Fish Tacos, though they’re both missing a wedge of lime at serving to perk up the flavours more in our opinion. Generally enjoyed everything for an easy no-fuss meal, EXCEPT that the Horchata (a Mexican cinnamon rice milk drink) really got a cheap artificial taste to it and was completely different to what I tried before at a different place.

You’d be amazed how such simple ingredients could come together to create these cracking flavours. It’s truly a humble yet moreish dish to make that’s perfect as a starter/side dish or even just as a snack!

It’s still love at first bite even with too much powdered sugar LOL! @Santa Nata makes the best pastel de nata in town outside of Lisbon and it always feels like falling in love all over again everytime you get them 😍 proper crispy pastry and gooey silky custard - they’re just way too good!

Coming from Leeds to London, Doh’hut has swept people off their feet with their quality artisan doughnuts. They’re inspired by classic British flavours, along with some unique weekly/monthly special flavours.
But the most impressive of all, imo, is the savoury cream cheese-filled doughnut, aka the Dagel! Seriously, dagel > bagel. It’s a real hit.

I used to get told off for adding too much condensed milk & syrup!
Hk style french toast is my favourite order at cha chaan tengs (traditional hong kong style local cafes). Especially when catching the 3pm afternoon tea menu and enjoying it with a glass of iced hk style milk tea - this combo doesn’t get any more iconic 👌🏽
This giant golden block is filled with layers of bread spread with peanut butter (or you can just use two thick slices of bread), then fried till golden & crispy. Serve it with a pat of butter & a drizzle of condensed milk and/or syrup - this eggy treat is so easy to make and is always a hit!

Baklava ice cream sandwich = king of ice cream sandwiches 🍦
@darlishicecream pop-up is something to look forward to every summer ☀️ instead of their usual covent garden location, they’ve moved to Liverpool Street instead near Spitalfields.
The Saffron Rose Pistachio was fab as always, perfect to be sandwiched in between the syrupy baklava 😍 we then had a scoop of the Turkish Coffee ice cream as well and it was great too - though the coffee flavour was a little lighter than what I remembered from before.

Location at the end! Hubz thought it’d just be some cliche gallery but ended up loving it at @Frameless LDN 🎨
Frameless is UK’s largest permanent immersive art gallery, featuring 4 different theme rooms showcasing some of the world’s most famous artwork reimagined beyond the frame and into an immersive experience.
Our favourite was the Colour in Motion gallery, with interactive lights that keeps both adults & kids entertained - perfect as a summer activity day out in London!
It’s not that huge in all honesty but it was a pretty cool experience for sure. We went on a Sunday and it was not crazy busy at all and was a very enjoyable experience. Bonus points that their cafe’s aesthetics are on point as well ☕️

Lisbon was my first ever solo trip and a city i love. Pastel de nata & balcahau aside, Açorda is a dish that stuck out to me the most from this vibrant city. I was hiking up & down the steep cobbled steps of Lisbon and ended up at Bairro do Avillez where I was introduced to Portuguese Açorda and was left intrigued since.
They explained that it’s like a garlicky bread stew or savoury porridge, which I was down to try. The immediate impression was that its concept was almost like chinese congee but instead of rice, it uses bread and featured Mediterranean flavours. I haven’t stopped thinking about the dish since my last visit to Lisbon so finally I tried my hand at making it at home here.
With further digging, I learnt that the words Açorda, means “to break bread”, and is a dish that dates back to the Moorish times in Al-Andalus Portugal. If you google it, they may show you something green-ish in colour and chunkier. The chunky bread version is known as Acorda Alentejama whereas Lisbon has its own version which is all mushy and, based on what I had at Bairro do Avillez, has got a touch of tomato and loaded with prawns on top.
The recipe I followed was adapted from Leites Culinaria and added my own flare & touches. Also, it’s a great way to use up leftover stale bread!

Unpopular opinion: these donuts are good but they're overhyped for what it is 😯
Is it unreasonable to expect more from Donutelier given the amount of hype & price? Boasting themselves as the most luxury artisan donuts you'll ever see in London, I don't think it was unreasonable of me to expect to be wowed.
What we liked:
🍩 they're absolutely beautiful
🍩 the dough itself was nice
But what we disliked:
🙅♀️ overly sugary toppings and even a bit sickeningly rich
🙅♀️ pricey for what it is

This Thai Green Curry Coconut Noodle Soup recipe is perfect for a cloudy/rainy day 🍜! Thai red curry paste is something I often use for a noodle soup base but never really thought about using Green Curry Paste until seeing Mob’s recipe idea.
Topped my noodle with bok choi, smoked tofu, red chillies, crispy chicken skin and fresh coriander. Also served it with some lemongrass chicken separately!
