God these comments. These pavers are specifically designed for retaining walls up to 4ft. Gravel for drainage, glue the top. Won’t go anywhere.

Lmao people giving legitimate suggestions and OP being like “you’re wrong thanks!”

I didn’t say that, just trying to explain why I’m doing it this way. Kind suggestions are for sure welcome

This is a very nicely done decorative wall, sadly it won’t retain much of anything. There’s a reason multiple bids were 15k+.

To the Diyers: never make a retaining wall yourself. Hire someone. One of those things that if done incorrectly, can cause more problems than u think.

That’s not a retaining wall… it won’t retain anything especially in the rain.

A whole lot of civil engineers in this comment section. It’s a retaining wall not a suspension bridge.

there's a reason why you were being quoted $15k... good job on the DIY but that wall will not pass a housing inspection as a retaining wall.

no drainage, no geogrid, no compacted backfill, not a proper bank for stability either

It has drainage and doesn’t require geogrid, I might not have compacted enough but I’ll keep an eye on it

Some of y’all would watch the Roman’s build roads and criticize them the whole way.

Serious question, what is that going to retain if it’s just stacked blocks? You can knock it over by bumping into it right?

That’s not a structural retaining wall😳 a wall that height needs a decent foundation.

We got one thank you! We are sitting on granite but I also went 8” down and compacted road base. We’ll be ok 👍
