Last weeks 🌲🌳 trail ride with Ludwig was absolutely a-m-a-z-i-n-g!
The zeal Ludwig put into my request of Piaffe felt like out of this world 🤯
Even though the flies 🪰🦟 were driving us a bit insane he was still so attentive to my seat. As a result you can see my 100% passive reins and the neck string is hardly used.

Today, we have something special prepared for you – a glimpse into Ludwig’s journey as he gracefully transitions from a Piaffe to a Passage and back to a Piaffe.
Ludwig is a unique horse, characterised by a strongly s-shaped neck spine and an exceptionally flexible body, paired with a sensitive and emotional temperament. He was bred for modern dressage, emphasising forward movement, which presents an added challenge, due to his relatively horizontal pelvis position, when it comes to collecting for movements like the Piaffe.
In recent months, we’ve primarily focused on Ludwig’s preferred movements, such as the Grand Passage and/or Levade. However, we recently decided to reintroduce him to the high collected art of the Piaffe.
For us, it’s all about striking a balance between honouring the horse’s preferences and providing them with challenges that encourage growth and development in areas that may be a bit more challenging.

Tango is back on the dance floor 💃
Yesterday we took the horses out into the forest again to provide them some movement and a change of environment.
Tony rode his little Quarter Horse mare Tango and in between he asked her to switch between some short steps and Piaffe while our Quarter Horse boy Smylie was walking fully relaxed next to them.
I walked the whole distance with Fame while I asked him to walk up and down every little side hill we could find so his proprioception gets trained with different footing and different angles of ground.
Even though Tango is our shining star in today‘s video, it fabulously filled my heart with joy and gratitude seeing Fame so peaceful in the forest and seeing him handling the different grounds so well and confidently ❤️

Tony‘s little Quarter Horse mare, Tango, is blowing us away again and again 🌪️
Since she arrived in Germany about 6 weeks ago she only had about 14 workout sessions (only 6 of these included riding) which were averaging about 10-15 minutes long.
We introduced her into our world of SEATology and HIIT for Horses in a really slow and gentle way, yet she is progressing as fast as a Maserati.
It proves again that if the horse and rider have a good foundation, meaning a foundation so that both are able to communicate with each other, then it can be incredibly fast taking this Dialogue into areas like our Power Moves.

Today Tony encouraged Tango to take her diagonals into more longer steps and back to shorter.
The reason is to see if it can help her become more vertical in the forelegs as at times she gets behind the vertical while developing her diagonals.
The plan is that as she goes forward into the slightly longer steps she can raise her front end a bit more and allow the forelegs to come out from under her chest.
What Tango presented was amazing for us, considering how few rides we have had with her since she arrived in Germany 🇩🇪 from Australia 🇦🇺 Quarter
