Update on the B-17 Aluminum Overcast’s maintenance progress: EAA’s Director of Aircraft Operations, Jeff Toline, said EAA mechanics and volunteers are in the “discovery phase”. They’re continuing disassembly and cleaning, making sure everything is in tiptop shape! It’s in capable hands back at home in #Oshkosh !
Happy Anniversary to the eye-catching Lockheed T-33, otherwise known as the Shooting Star or T-Bird. Today it celebrates 75 years since its first flight!
The subsonic trainer was developed from the P-80 and mostly used as an advanced trainer by the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. Very few are still airworthy today.
These videos were taken during #OSH17 , #OSH18 , #OSH19 , and #OSH21
Who wants to see the T-33 at AirVenture again??

Our mechanics are hard at work doing some seasonal maintenance on our B-25 Berlin Express before it goes on tour!
Unfortunately, not all the airplanes are happy with its presence in the Jack Mark Hangar that’s making it a little more cramped than they’d like. 🤷🏻♀️😅

Yesterday, we gave you picture clues and challenged you to guess which airplane this was. If you guessed the Little Wing LW-5 autogyro, you are correct! Andrew Keech, Australian native and lifelong aviation enthusiast, worked with Ron Herron, designer of the Little Wing Autogyro, to design a light, high-performance, and safe gyroplane. Together, they built the LW-5. It was dubbed Woodstock after the bird in the Peanuts comic strip.
In October 2003, Keech flew Woodstock across the U.S. and back, breaking three transcontinental speed records that were first set by John Miller.
Keech donated his Little Wing LW-5 autogyro to the EAA AirVenture Museum in 2007.

We recently got to go up in the air with the Mid America Flight Museum’s Travel Air 6000 and Ford 4AT Tri-Motor in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Both aircraft spent time with Johnson Flying Service (out of Missoula, Montana) dropping smoke dropping firefighters. In fact, according to the museum, records show that the Travel Air, Serial No. 844, was the first airplane that carried smoke jumpers. 📸 Connor Madison. #avgeek #aviation #smokejumper #TriMotor #TravelAir
