Laura and Joe had the most beautiful spring day for their wedding at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill! It was a spring day that felt like summer! The sun beaming through the trees is one of our favorite shots of the day! These two are the sweetest couple and have the nicest family and friends. They love adventure and even hiked the Appalachian Trail together! We were so happy to be a part of the beginning of their next adventure.

It was an absolutely gorgeous spring day for Jess and Matt’s wedding at the Publick House in Sturbridge. Jess’s dress was amazing and Matt looked great in his custom suit. They had a wonderful time dancing with family and friends and the nice day allowed them to really enjoy both the outdoor and indoor spaces at the Publick House. When Kari and Emmett told us about their cosplay/costume wedding at the Worcester Art Museum we just knew it was going to be amazing and it absolutely was! They looked so great in their “My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!” costumes! All of their guests had amazing costumes from all kinds of Anime to Indiana Jones to Princess Leia to Ruth Bader Ginsberg. It was such a fun time! There were even double Morticia and Gomez Addams! We were happy to join in on the fun and bust out our “Where’s Waldo?” costumes. They had wonderful food and the best time dancing while the Art Museum provided such a beautiful setting for such a fun time!

The most insane amount of rain fell but that didn’t stop Kayla and Christian from having an amazing time at their wedding at the Colonial Hotel in Gardner! Sage + Anthony
We’re not going to lie- it was the rainiest day ever for Sage and Anthony’s wedding but it was still such a spectacular day! The Connemara House in Topsfield was the most beautiful location (rain or shine) for their wedding. They both looked perfect and they had the best details! We loved their movie poster made with one of their engagement photos. They had a personalized hot sauce as a favor and since Sage’s grandparents own Nona’s Homemade Ice Cream they had an ice cream bar with their own personalized flavors- how awesome is that!?
Sage and Anthony have an amazing love story and have been friends since the second grade! We are so happy to have been able to photograph the start of this next part of their journey together!

Marissa and Alex had the most spectacular day for their early May wedding and it was so beautiful up at Zukas Hilltop Barn. The apple trees were in full bloom and absolutely spectacular! This was the first tent wedding at Zukas this season and it looked fabulous!
Alex and Marissa’s dog Reece was an adorable part of the day with his flower collar and go pro (you know you are important if you get to come down the aisle after the bride and have 2 drinks named after you!) Their family and guests had the best time playing board games and yard games during cocktail hour and they were the most fun dancing crowd!

The Wayside Inn in Sudbury was the most perfect setting for Christine and Bo’s gorgeous intimate wedding. They had a very charming and small wedding and their family and friends had the best time visiting and chatting the night away.
The Wayside Inn is such a cool historical New England venue and their reception in the old ballroom was near all of the museum exhibits (which we enjoyed poking through during quiet moments). The overcast skies gave great light for our photos at The Gristmill, which is such an awesome spot for photos and just looks great in all seasons!

You could not have asked for a more beautiful day for Caitlin and Kyle’s wedding at the Barn at Wight Farm in Sturbridge! It was perfect. The unseasonably warm weather earlier this week really got the plants blooming and the leaves starting to peek out. They told us that with an April wedding in New England they had considered all weather possibilities including snow but that definitely didn’t happen!
The weather wasn’t the only awesome thing about their wedding day. Caitlin and Kyle had the coolest details: from “Up” themed decor (one of the first movies they watched together 🥹), to bringing their Harley for some motorcycle wedding photos 🏍️ , to their adorable dogs joining for some photos 🐶.
The ceremony was gorgeous with a very sweet moment when their mothers presented their rings to them. And the dance floor was amazing with all of their friends and family joining in together to have a great time!

Our last wedding of the 2022 season was a beautiful one and comes with our craziest story of the year.
Tara and Tyler had a gorgeous late December day: who gets a 45 degree day on December 29 for their Massachusetts wedding?! There was a spectacular sunset and all of the glitz and glam of a New Year’s wedding. Not to mention that these two are the sweetest and so in love!
Unfortunately Joe was not able to photograph this wedding because before their wedding a snowboarder at Loon Mountain crashed into Joe from behind and broke his right arm. Tara and Tyler hired us for both photography and video so we had to call in a huge favor from our friend Jon Eastty of @easttyweddings. He flew up early from Florida to help us out with video for this wedding and saved the day! We cannot thank Jon enough! Joe directed, Elin covered photography, and Jon filmed the video. Immediately after their wedding we headed to the emergency room at UMass to have Joe’s bones set- it was quite the experience. It was a gorgeous wedding but we hope that we never have to do this again!

2022 was an amazing year for Joe Dolen Photography. It was our busiest year yet and we are so thankful to all of our clients and friends who trust us to capture their important moments from newborns, to families, seniors, events, and weddings.

This was such a great wedding! Jess and Kevin are the sweetest and were so fun to work with. They braved the cold for photos and we think it was definitely worth it!
