#stitch with @bugsythebully @RunBuddy Mobile is right in his comments on this thread! Punishing this scenario isn’t an effective approach (I know the owner loves their dog - I’m not judging them)

My pup destroyed 1 pair of shoes I left out. After that, I kept them put away for 4-6 months. Now I can leave them out and he’s fine. Mgmt —> training

I really wish this sort of information was on a bigger platform like tv cause I’ve learned so much from TikTok 🤷‍♀️

My trainer explained as reaction to owner going into a melt down. Very confusing and unsettling for dogs. They have no clue why

how can we manage those behaviours? I mean a better question would be how do I let my dog know that that's not something they can chew on?

They love not giving their dogs proper toys/stimulation but get upset when the dogs find a way to stimulate its self

1.3 seconds? Oddly specific! Like maybe there’s a paper or research that you’re aware of? (Because I’d love to read it!)

So why has my dog stopped destroying things when I punish her hours later?

The fact that humans need to be told that dogs don’t understand punishment 😅 damn we’re a frustrated species aren’t we

Dogs are pretty smart. Do they really not connect the two?

I am so guilty of this in the past and am so glad I learned that we are literally wasting our breath doing this after the fact. Great vid 💚
