It's my birthday! ❤️❤️❤️ Today I turned 31. And as a official send off to my 20s, I decided to share some (perhaps corny, but so true) of the lessons I'm learning as I grow.

I'd like to thank you once more for being such an incredible community. Many of you have been with me for years now, since I got started with digital art. It means so much to me, to have you with me on this journey.

I know my artwork has changed quite a bit, from ink on paper, to dark animal portraits, to mental health art and now just scratching the surface of narrative and storytelling.

Each day I wake grateful to learn and create with you. Thank you for all you do for me.

A new one-shot for you today ❤️ a study of my favorite artist. Beth Cavener's work pulled me out of an artless time driven by a very bad uni teacher- who told me that animal art isn't interesting or meaningful and I should focus on other subjects. I'm proud to say in my 30s I would now never even consider that professor's words, I'd laugh in her face! But in your 20s, the mind is impressionable, sweet, and naive. ❤️ thank you Beth for proving them wrong.

On change, springtime, and restlessness:

cloying sweet nectar in my guts, i feel change erupt from the eyes of the Flower Moon. on my knees i beg her to slow as she turns her face and slithers North. i am dragged along by cotton entrails. change comes and comes and comes and i cannot stop it; petals sprouting out of muck. it wants me to stand tall. it wants me to keep moving. i clear the blood from my lungs. honestly, i admire the hatching, blooming, sprouting, demonaic persistence of it all. i cede. i stand.

you will make it through this. be easy on yourself.

teeters on the tip of your serpentine tounge, doesnt it? the itch of your whole being. the expression of you, of your purple insides. something sacred and secret and wholly unshareable. something in your ribs, some shrouded spark, some covert composition; it whispers to you about infinity in abyssal song. you are such a wonder. give up your heart to it.
spring always comes. hold on, your best days are still ahead of you. spring comes like a dewdrop and then a monsoon. it comes on the featherdust of ravens and foggy foxsong. it comes in the rustle of evergreen, it comes right where you least expect it. it comes and goes, like all of us are destined to do. open your heart to wonder today, everything is going to be okay.

In this powerful poem, clementine uses the lion as a metaphor for addiction. Below, I've included some of my thoughts.

she was born a cub. she would sit with me at the edge of the bed. drink from the pool of confusion. accompany my shadow. she kept me safe. and she grew and grew.

now in her piercing eyes I can see she is always waiting for something. waiting for smoke. for drink. for succulence. for chasing. for conquering. waiting for that bloodied slab of me to hit the floor. i feel her muscles shudder.

the frenetic chase for relief, my lion comes and goes. but we have a deal, and we survive.

I feel my past and future tug at my heart with little red strings. I am trying, trying so hard to love myself. To figure myself out. To pull off layer after rotten layer of scar tissue surrounding what I know to be a tender core. To acknowledge that this is the work, the work that perhaps my soul set out to do.

The bird song and morning mist remind me that things are not so simple. That every worry, all the grief, all the stuggle; is but a drop in the pool of origins.

In the night sky I can feel something indescribable, unspeakable, equal parts deeply cthnonic and intensely cosmic. It tugs at my spirit through my body and I know, I just know, that you and I are part of the same thing.

In developing characters for Inuu, sometimes it’s helpful for my brain to draw them fully and in narrative context, almost as a backstory piece.

Meet Rust: a highly intelligent, seeker of science, lone grandma raccoon, whose destiny is intertwined with Inuu’s. She is a passionate if not manic, principled, and brave spirit. I really look forward to you meeting her in canon! But until then, enjoy this character study ❤️

Episode 3 is here ❤️

Of all the projects I work on, this one is the most difficult to post- I find myself lingering much longer here in this text box, thinking of how best to communicate my heart, my nervous excitement, my anticipation and hope that you love these girls even if you just met them. The support this community showed for the last episode left me speechless and humbled and so honored, but also excited to create more.

When you are close to something, you wish for it to be loved- but a big part of creativity is releasing your work out in to the wild and accepting interpretations and critics, and the idea that you might even disappoint some people. But take this as a sign to release it anyways. Your inner worlds will thank you ❤️

Just a note on webtoon: every 2 episodes will be combined into a special format webtoon, so this Episode will not have an webtoon update, but the next one will! This is just to accommodate my limited schedule at the moment ❤️❤️
