And final removal. This part skips a bit because I apply the gel remover and need to wait up to 10 minutes for it to do itās thingā¦ which makes for an even more boring video.
For this I use Mini Mani Moo Gel No More remover. I apply a thin coat of Gel No More then go back and apply a thicker coat, as the instructions say to do. Then I wait about 10 minutes for it to gummy up the gel so I can use my cuticle pusher from @polishpickup (Iām an employee of theirs!) to gently scrape the gel off. Then I apply one final coat of Gel No More, wait 4-6 minutes and scrape that off. Then I wash my hands and my nails are ready for a new set.
One thing I want to mention - Gel No More is almost $17 a bottle, which is more expensive than others on Amazon. However, I knew the brand name and trusted it more than some of the gel removal brands on Amazon. I also met the the brand at CosmoProfNA several years ago (2016?) so I decided to go this route. The product works and I will stick with it as I find it less harsh than soak method.

As promisedā¦ removal of the gel nails. This was actually harder to record than actually applying them.
I will be using my @melodysusieofficial Jade Rechargeable Nail Drill that was sent as PR as well as my nail clippers (purchased on Amazon) and 180 grit nail file.
To start I clip the tips off and then file down excess gel. Then I go in with my nail drill! I only show one nail getting the nail drill treatment since itās repetitive.
I want to remove as much of the gel as possible without hitting natural nail.
Fairly easy process. Also - be sure to wear a mask for this. You donāt want to breathe in the dust. I do have a nail dust collector on the way to help with this. Hoping itās here next week!

I got my mini vending machine from @cottonon in and filled with my fav Jelly Belly flavor (I used to live near their factory in CA) which are the cotton candy ones!

This is the final set. I did use a 220/280 grit buffing block on the top of each nail to buff and smooth. You can use a nail drill but I prefer the buffing block for it.
The final step is top coat and cure. In this video I used @kiaraskynails Essentials Gel Top Coat and their uv light to cure. I also use tiny cotton swabs I bought on @shein_official for a buck or two.
For most just top coat the top and cure - then done. As a swatcher, I top coat the top, top edge and underside of the nail. I come in contact with a lot of remover so I add top coat to all exposed areas for added protection. To avoid pooling under my nails, I add a dab and then use these skinny cotton swab things I got from #shein and cover the rest of the surface.
Then I cure (sorry that part is so boring) and done.

Off camera I fully cured each nail with my @kiaraskynails lamp. I didnāt record more than a quick snippet because it took 10+ minutes and is rather boring to see.
For part 4 we are gently filing off the little gel nub at the top of each nail with a 240 grit file. We want to remove the nub without flattening the tip.
Next I go in with my #melodysusie Jade rechargeable nail drill and file along the cuticle edge. This serves 2 purposes for me. 1: clean up any gel that seeped through while attaching the nail. 2: blends the edge of the gel nail into my cuticle line so when it starts to grow out, it doesnāt look harsh and I can easily āfillā with builder gel if needed.
This is a step I skipped initially but now itās one i find really beneficial due to grow out and being able to still swatch with some growth without seeing that harsh edge.
Iām also using the drill to file off the number on the underside of the nail. When I top coat - you wonāt see that file mark.

Part one is prepping the @thepainteddesert gel nails. I pretty much went through the full process (sometimes I even made it on camera) of fitting the gel nail to my natural nail. You want the nail to fit comfortably from side to side without applying pressure.
I got each nail and then I used my #melodysusie nail drill to file the inside of the nail a bit. This essentially helps your gel grip the nail better with less chance of pop offs.
I do want to say that Iām not an expert. I am 50% #google and 50% #selftaught . This is just my processā¦ but that doesnāt mean itās correct - it just means it works for me.
