In eastern California, a Great Basin bristlecone pine (Pinus longaeva) known as Methuselah has long been considered Earth’s oldest living thing. According to tree-ring data, Methuselah is 4,853 years old — meaning it was well established by the time ancient Egyptians built the pyramids at Giza.
This time-worn tree not only provides clues about our planet’s past climate, it – and forests in general for that matter – also plays a critical role in combating #climatechange today.

In 2020, Conservation International and @proctergamble launched the Mantalingahan Landscape Conservation Project, a five-year effort to restore and protect the Mount Mantalingahan landscape, which is located on the Philippine island of Palawan.
Palawan is home to more than 1,000 plant and animal species and provides for more than 12,000 Indigenous people, many of whom rely directly on nature for their livelihoods and are among the world’s most climate-vulnerable communities.
We are proud to share an intimate portrait of the elusive and rare wildlife of the Philippines, thriving in their natural habitats.

The “living rock” that thrives in tropical shallows around the world, coral supports a quarter of all marine life. Yet around 20 percent of the world’s coral is already gone, and most of the rest is severely threatened by climate breakdown, overfishing and pollution.
But a deep dive into the high seas — the waters that lie beyond maritime borders — has provided a ray of hope for the world’s reefs. #EarthDay

Hope is a catalyst for change.
It can transform nature – rivers, forests, fauna, and flora. It protects the web of life that stretches across millions of miles of ocean and land.
Your hope is a turning point for innovation and opportunity. It’s an agent of change and a vision for the future.
And when you give a gift to Conservation International in honor of #EarthDay , you help ensure a future where nature – and all life on our planet – is thriving.
