Scientists at a US naval base in San Diego, California, have been training a group of sea lions to play video games and one in particular, Spike, is apparently the most “avid gamer.”
Footage shared by the Navy shows Spike controlling the cursor with his snout while playing a game on the Enclosure Video Enrichment system, a game system Navy scientists created for marine mammals.
“He learned to understand the concept of controlling a cursor on a screen, then was gradually put through a series of more challenging games, with plenty of fishy rewards along the way,” the Navy said.
Spike is involved in the project run by the US Navy Marine Mammal Program, under which scientists come together to train sea lions and dolphins to perform various tasks.
