Get ready for one of the biggest trading card auctions of the year! 🗓️🙌

Heritage Auctions’ Trading Card Games Platinum Session and Signature Auction features nearly 200 top-of-the-line TCG and non-sports cards, all graded by CGC Cards™ and many graded CGC Gem Mint 10. Online bidding is already underway for the auction, which concludes on September 23-24, 2023.

A No. 1 Trainer, Pokémon (2000) Japanese Tropical Mega Battle Tournament 1st Place Prize Promo (lot 36087) is sure to draw spirited bidding as well. The 2000 Tropical Mega Battle Tournament was one of the earliest national competitions for the Pokémon TCG, and only those who made it to the very top of the tournament received a copy of a No. 1, 2 or 3 Trainer as their prize. Because these were never sold commercially, they are extremely rare. This example earned a grade of CGC Pristine 10, making it the highest-graded example in the CGC Cards Population Report.

This Gengar Communication Evolution Campaign promo graded a CGC NM/Mint 8, was one of five Holofoil Unnumbered Promotional cards that could be obtained as part of the Communication Evolution Campaign. Collectors could receive this card by mailing a copy of any Haunter card and Bill’s PC to the Media Factory. Any collector who participated was sent a copy one of these Gengar cards in return! 👀

This card has been designated as a crimped error! When cards are packaged, they are surrounded by the pre-printed booster pack art foil that is then heat sealed around the proper quantity of cards to become a pack. Sometimes, this process can go wrong, and a card or cards can slip forward or backward and come in between the crimper’s heat-sealing mechanism. When this happens, the intricate design of the crimping machine is imparted into the card.
