There is something magical about baking. Every holiday season my mom would make Black Bottom Pie without fail. As a child we would watch her go through the steps of baking the crust, melting chocolate, and folding egg whites into the custard. This pie is a legend in our family.It took me a few tries to master this pie but I am proud to say that I got the hang of it! I believe it makes my mom happy to see the pie is still being baked. If you are craving Christmas lights, there is nothing quite like Dyker Heights in Brooklyn!It really is a wonderland of nights with dozens and dozens of intricately decorated houses. Making this trip has become part of my Christmas celebration! The main houses you see on Instagram are located between 10th and 13th Avenues between 83rd-86th streets although I ventured a bit off the path too. This season goes by so fast and I find myself savoring every moments of the fall foliage. I have to admit I feel that same way as an aunt! Every time I see my nephew or one of my friend’s kids there is a change. They have mastered a new skill or they are into something new. The reality is they are growing and it is a beautiful to witness!
Like the fall foliage, we have to seize the opportunity, take in the joy, and appreciate the present moment.

Libraries are a wonderful resource for family activities!
During my trip to Austin, I visited the Austin library and was amazed. It is a beautiful space and had so much activity going on the day I stopped in ! Bella and I witnessed a cooking class and dance recital. We fell in love with the roof garden. Ample seating for socialization and reading along with captivating views and serene greenery, I could of stayed there all day!
We can’t wait to visit this amazing space again.

One Wednesday Bella and I got quite restless and needed to escape the house! I hopped on the train and went to the Bronx Botanical gardens, Being out in nature and surrounded by beautiful gardens is really rejuvenating. The best part is Wednesdays are free for NYC residents!
We went to many gardens that day but the rose garden is our favorite. Even at this time of year many roses are still in bloom.
