what they don't tell you is that airlines have 2 days to provide you with a new ticket or hotel . so this means you have to wait for 2 days in airport
The CTA is in bed with the airlines. Europe does not allow airlines to steal from the passengers.
They will find a way out of it. There is no way Air Canada will ever refund ticket
