Have you ever seen an owls ear? Now you have! While examining patients, we thoroughly check the entire anatomy for any injuries, including the ears. Here is a Northern Saw-Whet Owl that was admitted after being caught by a cat, and as you can see, their ears are huge in comparison to their body! You can even see the skeletal anatomy with the base of the eye. Ollie was with us for many years and helped people better understand the real benefits of having skunks around, and just how quirky they truly are.
