because most ppl arn't thinking about lag on a dragstrip but on the street and a track, not a strip

While you are correct, technically there is still longer spool times, using auto just switches that time to pre-race instead of midway through

Autos def are best for racing, i just like driving a manual for the street. and i prefer a auto for rockcrawling

some people still are thinking 20 years ago or longer, when it did mean lag, but with converter technology and 2 step boxes, it's the way to go

try doing a rolling start with a turbo that big, this and rolling anti lag are the only times a giant turbo doesn't lag

it does have lag.... that's why your launch system avoids it by doing what you said..... otherwise it would've have no reason to load the engine....

personally I want a fast spooling turbo for autocross and tight windy roads. your application yes lag is ok it can be managed a lot better

On a dragstrip sure.. that’s great. I can attest big turbo sucks merging into traffic, driving in town, etc… boost braking even requires planning

For a drag application lag doesn’t even matter because your building boost during staging.
