It was 2007. After a lot of tension, prayers, and an international move, my Grandmother was moved into a local-to-us senior apartment. She was no longer the Grandmother I remembered from my childhood. At least not usually. Then things got worse and she was moved into a care home. By the end, she would only occasionally remember who I was. I missed the fun, silly grandmother I'd gotten to know growing up, but I am so grateful for the time I got to spend with her.

Alzheimers is no joke. It is a burden for the person experiencing it and their loved ones alike. Today, take some time to reach out to your loved ones and remind them you love them. They may not remember you forever, but they'll appreciate it in the moment.

Tomorrow is Wife Appreciation Day, and honestly, I think the farmer's wives need it the most... especially this time of year. If you are a farmer and have a wife, make sure she knows you appreciate her. It doesn't have to be flowers and chocolates, but she just wants to know she's doing a good job.
If you're a farmer's wife, I see you. I see the extra long hours. The wrestling kids through after school, supper, and bed time alone. The impromptu parts trips 45 minutes away because that's where they are. I see your love, frustration, and constant wondering - I love the farm, this season is hard, when will he be home? I know your random knowledge about grain dryness and how much you hate the unpredictability of this life. But I know how much you love it too. You're doing a good job. This is just a season. We will make it to the other side. Maybe with scars and stories and never wanting to do it the same way again, but we'll make it 💗.

Once upon a time, a very long time ago, I learned to drive a tractor in a straight ish (heavy on the ish) line down the field. Now we have GPS systems and autosteer. I'm glad I learned before technology took over, because I have yet to wrap myself around a hydro pole, or take out a fence post. Not only that, when technology fails (as it tends to do), I will always have the basics I can rely on.

The same thing happened in the marketing world. On November 30, 2022, ChatGPT 3 was released publicly. By February, 2023, it was taking the world by storm. Now it's one of the most widely used tools in marketing. But it's not a human. Thankfully, I learned copywriting BEFORE it came out.

Do we use ChatGPT in our work? Absolutely. It has it's place, and it will get better and better as time goes on, as technology tends to do.

I can't imagine many farmers not using GPS and autosteer... but a human is still best for the headlands. Same thing for us. It's an incredible help to our agency, but we're still the ones driving.

There's a documentary coming out in Fall, 2023 about the life of Mennonites when they first got here. I, like so many people in our geographic area, am Mennonite (on my Dad's side). To me, that means knowing the value of hard work, using what you have, valuing community, and helping a neighbour in tough times. It also meant really good food from Grandma ;).
Now I get to teach my kids these values on this, Kids in the Kitchen day.

22 years ago the entire world changed. It was one of those times where you remember where you were when you heard. Trust became completely shattered. Racism and Religious discrimination escalated beyond reason.
People on our team were planning to immigrate to Canada… but then 9/11 happened.

Here we are. 22 years later. Still working to undo all of the damage that was done.
Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to ALL the people who were affected on 9/11. May such a horrendous event never happen again. 🙏🕊️

I never got to meet the Queen. 📷 She came to our school when I was in Grade 6, but I wasn't allowed to go. Everything I've ever heard about her is how kind and humble she was. And that she LOVED horses. 📷 I find it strange that we're still under the British system, and stranger still that we have a king, as I've only ever known having a queen. Granted, she was the longest reigning monarch in history (70 years). She will be missed. 📷

🐔🌟CHICKEN MONTH!!! 🐓🍗Chickens were a part of my life from the time I could walk until I graduated high school. At least, the alive ones were 😊. This is a picture of my Grandma helping clear out the 12,000 chickens that Dad sold in '98. By the time I was catching chickens, the technology had changed significantly. I ended up getting the easiest job - driving one of the adapted lawn mowers around - because I was one of the few in our class who volunteered that they were capable of it. Now, I have very little to do with chicken... other than feeding it to my small humans every once in awhile, usually in the form of pulled chicken. How do you enjoy eating your chicken? 🍽️👩‍🍳
