Failure comes in many forms. I could, and do, call myself one for days on end like this.
Being a small, new indie author is tough. You feel this pull to share your work, but the absolutely debilitating fear of doing so. Finacially it’s stressful. What we are paid for pages read in KU had been cut. So many of us arent making enough to cover editing costs alone. All those beautiful PR boxes, stickers and commissioned artwoks we all love? Its just not possible for the majority of us.
I know that. Other authors know that. But it’s still hard not to compare and deem yourself a failure because you can’t.
Then there are the big pay for review accounts. A lot cant afford that, either.
And before you say it, I’m aware there is no forcing me to do this. It’s a choice I make and it’s one I am glad to make. I just needed to get this out there.
Ultimately, I’m still trying. Still working.
So really, can I be failing?
