Meet Chris Nickol, Bearsden Choirs phenomenal piano accompanist! Even though Chris does not sing with us, he is one of the choirs longest standing and most valuable members. Not only does he rise to any challenge, but too rehearsals just wouldnt be the same without his meticulous ear, fantastic music theory knowledge and of course his humour.

Bearsden Choir are excited to start singing together again!  After a relaxing summer break, we are looking forward to getting stuck in to the music for our new season and we are excited to announce some of the fantastic projects we will be involved in this year: 

Wednesday 20th September: Open rehearsal, singing choruses from Faure Requiem and Vivaldi Gloria, 7pm, Wellington Church 

November: Recording for BBC 1 Scotland, to be broadcast during Christmas 2023

Thursday 14th December, 8pm, Brahms Requiem, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall New Auditorium with Jude Keaney and Lynda Cochrane (piano) Monica McGhee (Soprano) and Daniel Shelvey (Baritone) 

Spring 2024: Faure Requiem and Vivaldi Gloria 

May 2024: Puccini Messa di Gloria, with the @McOPera orchestra in Glasgow City Halls. 

Rehearsals commence on Wednesday 30th August, 7:30pm at Wellington Church. There are a very small number of vacancies in each section, if you would like to be a part of one the foremost choirs in Scotland, please get in touch! enquiries@bearsdenchoir.co.uk

Don’t miss the premiere of John Bridcut’s BBC2 film ‘Michael Tippett: The Shadow and The Light’ which features extracts of Tippett’s music performed by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Bearsden Choir. We are very proud to be a part of this amazing work and have thoroughly enjoyed working on it. A must watch, the Radio Times have ranked it as no.3 in this weeks ‘Top 10: to watch, listen to & stream’.

Catch an insight into the film on BBC Radio 3 this Wednesday 7th June 2023 at 5pm, where Katie Derham will be speaking to Bridcut himself about his performance documentary.
