This weekend we hosted the Specialist Cheesemakers Association (SCA) AGM. Over 100 cheese professionals descended on the farm for a weekend of farm tours, cheese dairy tours, cheese tasting, camping and talks about all things cheese and farming. It’s a celebration of the cheesemaking community capped off by a three course meal on the Saturday night and the AGM meeting itself on Sunday.
It was great fun and a huge privilege to host but also very intimidating, most of the best artisan cheesemakers in the country were there. We worked hard to tidy the farm and cheese dairy, we turned a calf barn into a banquet hall and our kitchen and cafe team put on a feast. I’m incredibly proud of the entire team (across the cafe, farm and cheese dairy) coming together to put on a great show.
Minette Batters, President of National Farmers Union, was the guest speaker before dinner on Saturday. Her talk showed a profound grasp of the key issues facing farming and food production in the UK. She offered sound advice and clearly articulated how she and the NFU are campaigning to get improvements in the latest Government Food and Farming policies.
Many many thanks to everyone involved including the SCA staff and committee members, Minette Batters, all my colleagues at Bath Soft Cheese / Park Farm, and finally all the cheesemakers and cheesemongers who came along. We hope everyone enjoyed the weekend as much as we did.

We are no longer using bubble in our online orders! 😁In an effort to be more sustainable and environmentally friendly, we have been trying out different ways in which we can pack your cheese orders and keep them cool, up until now bubble wrap was the only suitable solution we had found...
