5 years ago I was desperate to be at home with my kids… the only thing was we needed my income. I searched “how to make money from home” and was usually met with options that just wouldn’t work (like the ones above)
I knew there had to be a better option out there. And then I finally found the answer: FREELANCING
As a freelancer, I was able to work on my own schedule, which usually mean early in the morning and after my kids went to bed. And I was able to use my skills to offer a service to business owners by helping them to complete tasks and projects. And they paid me for my time!!

First off, I want to say that this took hard work and sacrifice but it was definitely worth it to me to be able to stay at home and raise my boys!
Here’s exactly what I did:
1. Started a virtual assistant business! A virtual assistant is an independent contractor who helps business owners with tasks and projects virtually!
2. Made a list of all the skills and tasks I felt comfortable offering and put together packages of 10, 20 and 30 hours per month for my clients to book!
3. Made a post on my personal Facebook page letting my friends and family know that I was starting a business and looking for referrals for clients (this is actually how I got my first client of 10 hrs/week)
4. Gained a few more clients, raised my rates and asked for testimonials to have social proof!
5. Figured out what services I liked offering, what I didn’t like, and started to specialize into blog writing for my clients. This is where I shifted from hourly to monthly retainer pricing and doubled my monthly income!
5. My clients would refer me because of the results I was getting them and I became officially booked out!
