These are the books that started it all! When I was in elementary/middle school I read my way through a family friend’s collection of Famous Five books, borrowing a new one each week. You can’t buy them in the US and we didn’t have the internet then so I couldn’t just get my own copies. I loved them so much that when I learned Enid Blyton’s Kirrin Castle was based on England’s Corfe Castle, I decided I had to visit it one day. In 2015 I made that trip and consequently started the blog. Our family friend is now cleaning out her house after the recent passing of her husband, and as her own girls haven’t taken this set of books, she asked if I would like to have them. This is possibly the best bookish gift I’ve ever/will ever receive! I love the bookstores in Salem, MA! I can spend hours poking through the shelves of books on fairies, witches, divination, astrology, crystals, tea leaves, Wicca, herbology, etc. This place is unlike any other and I just love it. But I also feel deeply conflicted about Salem being the witch capital when women were killed here just for being suspected of being witches.
