My FAVORITE organization that blocks hate with LOVE is Pansy Patrol ! We go to Pride events and block people who are there to spew hate with large flower cutouts! PANSIES!!!! We never yell, only smile and BLOCK them hoping to provide a shield of love and nurturing for people celebrating their PRIDE! We need love and acceptance now more than ever as the LGBTQ+ community continues to be unjustly demonized and attacked…. THE FOOD BANK NEW YORK @foodbank4nyc is one of the most incredible organizations I have ever witnessed! They bring in enough food to feed over 1.6 million people a day in the five boroughs! They have programs for seniors, they teach nutrition, they have created programs for women dealing with period poverty, they open their doors TO EVERYONE who needs a meal . They even provide pet food and one of my favorite programs: a grocery and supply kitchen at many schools so that kids can take home necessities like laundry soap, and family necessities. This team is soo special! I spent the day with my friends learning all about them, seeing their kitchen in Harlem and GINORMOUS warehouse facility. There are food deserts in the five boroughs where there are no grocery stores and certainly no where to obtain culturally relevant food items, they are there to rescue and provide meals. They really have my heart. No one can begin to think about their true dreams with an empty tummy. Every penny they receive goes directly into producing life necessities for the community.
