Therapeutic tingz are temporary. Let’s put some respect on mental health professionals names and titles! Social media glorifies #gymlife and living in a state of hyperarousal. Avoiding and dissociating from reality. You can’t unsee it— I don’t mean to project/pathologize pero like I am speaking from my own education & personal experience in group fitness settings, on top of being ✨under the influencer✨ When we say something is therapeutic, it means it gives us a feeling of relaxation, relief or emotional well-being. It’s a great way to reduce stress, take care of ourselves, or improve our overall mood. But doesn’t necessarily mean the underlying issues we face are worked through. In fact, sometimes things that are initially therapeutic may transform into a dependence or avoidance if we keep ignoring those underlying issues. A bandaid! Therapy, on the other hand, is a more formal process that involves a trained professional like a therapist or counselor. Therapy helps people deal with specific mental, emotional, or psychological issues using proven techniques (there are MANY different kinds of therapy — lookin at u people that assume therapy is a one size fits all approach) and a therapeutic relationship. It requires regular sessions, assessments, and personalized strategies to help people grow, heal, and solve problems. While everyday things can be therapeutic, therapy itself is a complex process that needs an expert to address emotional issues effectively. #mentalhealth #gymaddict #pinaypower #womenthatlift created by asapmonny with Ohboyprince's Bounce When She Walk

SHOW me your CORE values not your core workout 😩 That don’t impress me much 🤷🏻‍♀️ let’s talk 👇🏽

What are you passionate about? What tugs at your soul and makes you FEEL alive & connected?

Being honest with my values to ME means recognizing and following my intuition, so that I can make choices that truly resonate with my soul’s desires. Deep!!! 😅 Living in alignment may be different for each person, but it brings a sense of fulfillment that transcends external appearances. This shit is hard lol

As much as people may covet, idolize and glorify the way it LOOKS, the truth is that six-pack abs are pretty useless as a measure of fitness.

Judging a person based on external appearances is a foolish metric & we all know it (yet still do it… don’t u love our culture?)

Maybe you don’t want to be hearing this from a petite lil girl like me… Then scroll.

✨ If dedication to any goal forces you to sacrifice or compromise your values, it may be worth exploring WHY you have that goal in the first place. ✨

IMHO no accomplishment is worth sacrificing kindness, integrity, or overall well-being.

Visible abs indicate nothing about your speed, strength, stamina, flexibility, or overall health. All it means is that you have a lean enough midsection for your musculature to show. Or again— have somethin about your genetics

Having visible abs becomes unrealistic when you’re striving to go below a relatively “normal” level of body fat. Having very low levels of body fat can become unhealthy. Risks can range from dangerously low heart rates, declining testosterone levels, poor recovery, amenorrhea, osteoporosis, etc…

Although we’ve been conditioned to attach morality to fat 🤦🏻‍♀️ you NEED it to live.

So if it turns out that visible abs are out of reach for you (or if you’re not interested in adopting the kind of restrictive diet it takes to get and maintain one) there are still plenty of good reasons to work the core.

You know where to find me ;)

You can be soft and strong. 💅🏽👇🏽

We love boxes, categories, labels… It makes things easier. Or does it?
Strong or Soft
Street Smart or Book Smart
Creative or Responsible
Dependable or Adaptable

Sidebar— “It’s the hard things that break; soft things don’t break…You can waste so many years of your life trying to become something hard in order not to break, but it’s the soft things that can’t break! The hard things are the ones that shatter into a million pieces!” – C. Joybell C

Two things can be true. Allowing all parts of you shine through at the same time comes with accepting them completely.

I hope I continue to see STRONG and SOFT WOMEN from unique backgrounds, experiences & ALL walks of life taking space in the gym.

After all, unlocking the generational strength to break these cycles isn’t something you can do alone, either. When we find the softness & strength within ourselves, we are better equipped to serve others.

It’s unfortunate that many individuals, especially women, spend a long time idealizing this image of “health” & lusting after a “goal body”

Messaging is focused on what we SHOULD look or be like— Smaller, THICCer, Stronger, Fitter but not TOO muscular, body fat can only be in certain places & the list goes on.

When women post photos or share realness about stretch marks, post-baby bod, fat, cellulite, stray hairs, any “imperfection” it is celebrated as bravery instead of glossed over & seen is NORMAL.

Standards perpetuate bc beauty, fitness, fashion, and brands revolve around attractiveness/aesthetics.

Finding movement you love & evaluating your relationship with your body is only a piece of the puzzle.

There is a physical, mental, AND emotional component.

Until you spend time understanding YOUR balance, YOUR needs, & YOUR goals, you’re gonna have a real hard time getting to where you want to go & maintaining it for life.

Don’t workout to fulfill someone else’s agenda/reality.

Workout to align with YOURS.

THAT sh!t is true STRENGTH.

I’m not promising you results by sharing IG or TikTok workouts lol. DEETS here 😮‍💨👇🏽

This is flexy to meet your individual needs - let’s BeReal, true strength comes from meeting yourself where you are and executing simple movements WELL.

If you like to move just to feel good (mentally, physically, emotionally) there’s nothin wrong with that. That’s what I do! :)

⚠️There are more & less efficient ways to achieve a goal. The influx of fitfluencers and their “guaranteed methods” shows exactly that.

BUT the “BEST” method is the one that works for YOU. The people that read my captions (if you get it, you get it. And I love you) KNOW.

🦋 My personal goals: move WELL, feel GOOD, welcome in the RESISTANCE, stay GROUNDED, stay PRESENT in my body, trust my INTUITION & energy. Objectively I’d like to maintain muscle mass as much as possible and enjoy all the foods while maintaining a healthy relaysh w my body

There’s a time & place for novelty (today, for me) as you can have a healthy/balanced program with dat new new, but don’t do things just for the sake of doing them or because you saw favorite influencer/guru/thot leader do it.

✨ACTUAL WORKOUT (vid is for entertainment but this is the actual sequence)

▶️Warm Up/Priming Drills
▶️BB Back Squat 4x4-6
*️⃣Pause Squat (Deload) 3x4-6
▶️Hip Thrust Pyramid* 10/8/7/7/7/8/10
▶️DB B-Stance Deadlift
*️⃣s.s. Romanian Deadlift 4x6-10
▶️Leg Curl 4x8-12

**there’s multiple ways to do a pyramid set.
Mine looked like this—
Set 1: 135 lbs x 10 reps
Set 2: 225 lbs x 8
Sets 3-5: 315 lbs x 7/7/7 ;) (add ⏸️ a top)
Set 6: 225 lbs x 8
Set 7: 135 lbs x 10

I like them bc of the challenge & I get the best of both worlds (mechanical tension w heavier loading, metabolic stress w higher reps).

✨My typical lower body days look like:

Warm Up/Priming Drills (will share if interested)
▶️Squat &/or
Lunge (any variation)
▶️Hip Thrust
▶️RDL

Literally dA$$it (reread ^my pers goals as to why).
🫶🏽 ILY for being here & making it this far. You know where to find me!
