Did you know that food production accounts for one-quarter of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions and takes up half of our planet’s habitable surface? 🌎🌽
Knowing what to eat to minimise impact on our planet can feel like an impossible task: Eat locally? Skip meat? Opt for organic, free range, humanely raised?
I believe that we can all take simple, everyday actions that in turn play a part in our fight against climate change. Here are my top tips to remember (save this post!):
1. Be mindful of how you shop – choose local, seasonal and organic produce when possible.
2. Be mindful of how you store your food – fridge and pantry organisation helps keep produce fresher for longer.
3. Be mindful of how you cook your food – use all the parts of the fruits and veggies, cook in batches, find a new purpose for wilting foods, keep leftovers in the freezer.
4. Be mindful of your diet – focus on a plant-based diet; incorporating beans, lentils, chickpeas, mushrooms, and nuts.
These might sound like small steps, but every little bit helps the environment. What’s the first step you can take to EAT BETTER and protect our planet?
